“I didn’t say it was your fault.  I said I was going to BLAME you.”  From a Refrigerator magnet I recently purchased.

When I saw this in a novelty store, I just couldn’t stop smiling.  In the rather snide comment there was potent truth.  The more I looked at the magnet, the more powerful that statement became.  Blame is such an insidious reflex for almost all of us when we feel threatened.  If we made a mistake it’s hard to accept responsibility often times so we become conditioned to making excuses, I only did that because…and so on.  On the other side of the fence, if we are upset about something it is so much easier to blame someone else rather than take responsibility for it ourselves.  If you are creators as most of you reading this understand yourselves to be, then everything you experience you attracted with your consciousness, thoughts, intentions and feelings.  So why blame another?

It’s time to take stock of this very dysfunctional mind patter we all become embroiled in.  Why not pretend there is no such word? If you are upset, look to yourselves for the answer. If you are at fault for something, own it.  That really feels much better.     My husband Mark and I have been working on this one diligently for a while now as we discovered this particular pattern has caused so much resentment in our relationship. If you feel someone else’s behavior has caused you harm, look more deeply into the pattern you have with this person.  I guarantee you will be amazed at what you uncover if you are willing not to buy into your ego’s drama of self righteousness.

When you hear yourself either inside your mind our speaking out loud blaming someone for what you’re are experiencing or feeling, become conscious of the “blame game” and own it has a habit or pattern you are shifting.  Right then and there is your power point.  Release the blame directed outward, and take a deep breath. Ask what you are afraid of that caused you to activate the blame. Re-frame the situation while taking complete responsibility for your feelings.  If you don’t understand how you attracted the discomfort, just keep breathing and focus on your I am Presence.  Soon your will either understand and/or the need to blame will have evaporated.  Either way you are on your way to better relationships with those you love and most importantly with yourself.
